CONNECTIONS
For the Motion Graphics rotation with the prompt of ‘Connections’ I focused on analysing the connection between clothes, as inanimate objects, and clothes when they are given life by the wearer and the wearer’s movements. As I am not familiar with the software Adobe After Effects, I kept my idea simple in order to direct my attention towards learning new techniques and processes. I began with a quick storyboard to optimise my organisation within the project, wherein the red lines represent the planned movement of my lines and shapes.

Storyboard
With my plan completed, I began by learning the basics, such as creating a trim path which I used to make the washing line and pegs swoop into the screen, and creating shapes which I did so by drawing out the two socks. However, in order to make the socks move I had to design a separate path which I then copy and pasted into the position setting for my sock shapes. This proved to be challenging as I had some difficulties with timing the fall and swing of my shapes, which is evident in my finished result as the timing is not perfect. In order to improve my motion graphics animation I would add sound that aligns with the graphics, such as wind during the first section and footsteps during the second section. I would also add a lot more detail to my animation as it is very plain and unimaginative. Overall, I enjoyed working on this project and learning a new software, getting to grips with the basics and coming out with a finished piece of work.
